A travel enthusiast making the best of some pretty awesome sights as I explore New South Wales during these uncertain times #nswtravelchallenge

Out for a little adventure, snorkelling at Silver Out for a little adventure, snorkelling at Silver Beach in Kurnell. It’s famous for seahorses apparently... though I didn’t see any. Saw loads and loads of fish of all sizes so there is a very healthy marine habitat happening there. I came across a few fishing lines with hooks and sinkers still attached, so I picked them up and swam back to shore to put them in the bin. Massive shout out to @winterandmo who had never been snorkelling before but came on this adventure anyway! 💕

I’m going to miss being able to whip up lunches I’m going to miss being able to whip up lunches like these when we are back in the office.
Threw a bunch of chopped veg (including my favourite - beetroot) in the oven before my 11:30 meeting. When I was finished they were done, so I quickly grilled off some chicken and sprinkled with goats cheese. .

Middle harbour creek to be exact, which is inside the Garigal National park. I’m my top pick for some #wildswimming when the weather is fine (or when it’s not, let’s be honest). Oh what a day, it was raining 🐱 and 🐶 this m Oh what a day, it was raining 🐱 and 🐶 this morning. But boy did it clear up to be an amazing day for a bushwalk.
As you may know from my insta stories, I have been working with a personal trainer for the last 6 months. Once a month my PT (@tegan_kidger / @lioness.pt) organises a bushwalk or activity for the women she trains. And it’s just an awesome and fun morning.
This morning we did the two creeks track in north Sydney, and were blown away by the serene and majestic scenery. 💕

Some days I just marvel at the beauty of the Austr Some days I just marvel at the beauty of the Australian countryside. So often the bush land melds in with the farm land creating an almost wild and untamed look. So different to the expectation of picturesque pastures that are usually depicted as countryside. I just love it.

For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, the we For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, the weather is notably starting to turn to summer. As international travel is off the cards for a while, I’m turning my attention to the many local attractions and things to do. All within easy distance of my home (Sydney) and can be done on a budget. However, this list is still growing so I’m calling out for recommendations of things to do and see that are a little different from the usual tourist attractions? Check out my full blog for the list so far (link below and in bio)

Took a leisurely stroll around the La Perouse headland with some friends. We were only rained on for the half the trip, but it was so worth it. The dramatic seas and skies made every corner feel different and wild.

Thanks to @helen_nig for taking this photo and for loaning me your jumper when I did not dress appropriately for the weather 🤦‍♀️

About the Lite Backpacker

Hello, I’m Helen, AKA The Lite Backpacker – an Australian with an English accent (thanks to having one English parent) on the 30 side of my 20s. Like so many Australians, at 18 I packed up my backpack and headed to Europe, flittering from museum to bar for nearly a year. When I came home I thought I had gotten the “travel bug” out of my system as well as putting on an unhealthy amount of “backpacking weight”. Instead, within 6 months I had booked my next trip, with a vow of finding a way to enjoy travel food without the weight gain. Read More about “About Me”…
